Limpets, Limpets

Does anyone remember last year's Limpets post?

Those limpets have now made their way onto the pages of Interweave Crochet Home 2015...

...as the Limpet Chair Pad:

Limpet Chair Pad by me. (Interesting book choice in the right-hand photo!)

The Limpet Chair Pad was a fun project, both in the designing and the stitching. There's something about limpets - those cheery, little-known sideways shells - that makes the crochet seem to fly off the hook. Alternating rows of front loop slip stitch and single crochet add to the pretty texture, and the cheery zigzag edging seemed the perfect finishing touch.

Though the magazine sample was worked with double strands of a worsted weight yarn (Wool-Ease by Lion Brand), a chunky weight yarn (such as Wool-Ease Chunky) may be substituted.

Other options for this versatile design: go for super texture with Wool-Ease Thick and Quick (or another super-chunky yarn) - just size up your hook, do a bit of quick swatching, and adjust the starting chain as necessary to end up with the size you want.

For a smashing pillow, make 2 squares (without the picot edging), then use the edging to join the squares over a contrasting lining.
